2009 road races

The road running sec, Glen has sent around a good list of the local(ish) races coming up over the next 6 months,
For me, this year, inj*** permitting I want to do a few more that the last few years. A quick look suggests the following BroadOaks 10k -25th May, Tilty Hilty 5 mile (series) 7th June, Mersea Island half m 21st June, Felstead 10k (series) or Thrift Green 10k (essex champs) 19th July, Essex Way relay 6th Sept, Tiptree 10m (essex champ) 11th Oct, Stebbinbg 10mile (series no3) 8th Nov.

Any takers for these. Without some quick young men the guys team wont win anything and the women could win it all if they get teams out?

Any ideas folks?

I work weekends but I will fit a race in, is anyone doing any this year or is it you are all not bothered about organising anything together?

I will try to do some, if not all of them, although if it is really hot count me out. Me and the sun just don't get on. I'm still on a high from the London marathon though so will say yes to anything at the moment!

OK, I have decided to do more races this year, including the cross country ones (OK you can stop laughing now), but next one for me will be Southend half if all goes well with post London recovery.

How about the Broadoaks 10K on the 25th May, a lovely village and either a hot or a wet day normally!
Its not too far, not too big and its only 10K, with a pint afterwards maybe?

I'm doing Baddow...my first race since the diabolical Benfleet!!!!, then for fun I'm doing the Mulbery mud run, then the Southend Half......not looked further than that for now...it may start getting too hot if the weather men are predicting correctly, so reckon races may wait til urrmm October? (cant remember if its cooler round then!!!)

Glen sent some details out re Leigh On Sea Striders 10k - we should all try and target this as we should all be marshalling! Glen said he's make details available when he has them

I'm looking forward to this one.....need to redeem myself somehow......... will really be looking forward to doing the marshalling at our 10k...I thoroughly enjoyed myself last year and had the greatest buzz cheering/urging people over the last mile or so......a really fab day out!!!!.....well you know, each to their own eh!!!
