The painful truth about trainers: Are running shoes a waste of money?
Interesting article about running shoes, worth a read here.
Not on these pavements!
The article has a number of points that have been more clearly argued before, and it uses what statistics it needs to proove its points. For me and anyone who lives here (not in paradise/utopia) and has worn shoes it is too late, dirty and cold to be starting running in bare feet so its a bit of an acedemic article. Of more use has been the research into the value of diet, stretching and core stability.
The barefoot marathon runner - Arcticle in The Times.
By coincidence, The Times published the following article in Saturdays edition.
Not something I can see taking off in the UK, but worth a read if your bored.

Barefoot on our pavements?? Not on your nelly
That article, I found to be extremely interesting! I was fascinated about the bit regarding the secretive tribe at the beginning too!
However, I, for one, would not run barefoot on the pavements, broken glass and other sharp objects would outweigh the benefits of running with no shoes.
Having said that, there is nothing better than sprinting on grass barefoot, that is freedom
- I once ran barefoot on a synthetic track, it would have been okay too but for the rough knobbly bits on the surface
